The Mount Holly Historical Society is pleased to announce a fun-filled community event, the Flood Fest, on Saturday, July 16 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This centennial event will celebrate our city’s resiliency and recovery since the Great Flood of 1916. The Historical Society is located at 131 S. Main Street in Mount Holly. Live music, food trucks, and a Kids Zone will be available during the day’s events. The unveiling of the museum’s first temporary exhibit, The Great Flood of 1916, will be unveiled at 10:00 AM that day. A commemorative program will begin at 11:00 AM on the steps of the Historical Society that will include a proclamation by a city official and narrative reading. Additionally, visitors will take part in a historic ringing of the Mountain Island Mill bell that was last officially rung on July 16, 1916, hours before the mill was destroyed by the raging flood waters. This event is open to the public. For more information about the Mount Holly Historical Society and its museum, located at 131 S.
